Best Bread Pudding

Ingredients

  • 6 cups cubed day-old bread (French or brioche)
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ tsp ground cinnamon
  • Pinch of salt
  • ½ cup raisins or chopped nuts (optional)
  • 2 tbsp melted butter (for greasing)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Spread bread cubes evenly in the dish; add raisins or nuts if using.
  3. Whisk eggs, sugars, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt. Stir in milk and cream.
  4. Pour mixture over bread and gently press down. Let soak 15–20 minutes.
  5. Bake uncovered for 45–50 minutes, until golden and set.
  6. Cool slightly and serve warm.
