Ingredients
- 6 cups cubed day-old bread (French or brioche)
- 2 cups milk
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- ¼ cup brown sugar
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- ½ tsp ground cinnamon
- Pinch of salt
- ½ cup raisins or chopped nuts (optional)
- 2 tbsp melted butter (for greasing)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Spread bread cubes evenly in the dish; add raisins or nuts if using.
- Whisk eggs, sugars, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt. Stir in milk and cream.
- Pour mixture over bread and gently press down. Let soak 15–20 minutes.
- Bake uncovered for 45–50 minutes, until golden and set.
- Cool slightly and serve warm.
